round 1 kids cyclocross

A great turnout for the first kids cyclo cross from ages 6-12yrs despite howling winds and hail storms 21 participants made the effort to attend and take part at Bude Junior playing field for the first in a 5 race series of cyclocross. The children had to negotiate a taped off loop on the grass with mounting and dismounting along the way to get themselves and bikes over the kick boards. Individual races were run categorised by age 7-9yrs and then 10-12yrs. The aim was to do as many laps as possible in a 10 and 15 minute time period. For those still with something left in their legs and lungs there were a couple of team relay events, by which time marshall's, parents and kids had had enough and the sun came out!!

The results are as follows along with a list of participants.

7-9yrs

!st Kai Dickens

2nd Kristoff Connor

3rd David Currie

along with: Michael Currie, Harry and Daniel Shaw, George Butler, Daniel and Jasmine Smith, Will Nicklen, Jack Routley, Jonathan and William Jose, Lockryn Peters and Andrew Charles.

10-12yrs category

1st Jaei Meldrum

2nd Lola Sanella

3rd Georgia Higham

along with : Joe Hodge, Sophie and Holly Blake.

the top three of both categories were awarded with water bottles and goodie bags containing pumps, bike computers and handie tools for use on their bikes.

The next round will be on Saturday 27th June at Bude Junior school, we will be running more relays along with a trail treasure hunt!!
