Cleave Climb conquered!

5 riders completed Wayne's special reliability trial route on Sunday 12 July 2009.

The 20 mile route started at Don/t Push It, took the northbound A39 to Stratton, turned left up Stamford Hill to Stibb, down the steep descent past Stowe Woods followed by the killer climb up to Cleave Camp, before heading through Shop to Crimp and then back all the way on the A39 via Kilkhampton to the start. No shortcuts permitted.

Conditions were less than ideal. Driving rain set in at the outset, mercifully behind the riders on the northbound half. This made the steep twisting descent towards Duckpool even more treacherous. The return leg on the A39 was against a stiff headwind.

Despite this weather, 2 riders broke the 60 minute barrier, laying down a gauntlet for future trials on this route.
